About me
BJ Weller, Ed.D., LCSW, is an Assistant Principal at Park Lane Elementary in Canyons School District. He began his career as a school social worker and school counselor in Granite School District, where he helped design a K–12 school counseling model focused on supporting the whole child. BJ later served as an administrator at both the middle and elementary school levels before being hired in 2017 to create Canyons District’s Responsive Services department, now known as Student Wellness Services. With a background in social work, school counseling, and educational leadership, BJ’s work has focused on integrating mental health supports within PBIS and MTSS frameworks to help "ensure each student is safe, healthy, and ready to learn". He has supported districtwide efforts in restorative practices, trauma-informed care, suicide prevention, crisis response, and student wellness. BJ believes that connection comes first, behavior is communication, and schools can be powerful places of healing, belonging, and growth. A few of his favorite reminders are: “You get what you pay attention to,” “Everything is figureoutable,” “Approach with curiosity,” and “It’s a GREAT day to be a Canyoneer!”
